Why did you get out of bed this morning, put on what you are wearing, eat what you ate? Why did you come to work? Why do you do what you do? What is the reason for everything you do?…
01What is your “WHY”?
Why do you build the relationships you build, and why do you nurture and maintain them? What inspires you to take one more step, invest one more minute of your time, try once more and a little more to achieve “IT” – your “WHY”? Your “because…” is in fact your purpose and the reason you do everything you do.
Some of you founded companies, starting your entrepreneurial adventure out of a love of creating – furniture, parts, assemblies, food, clothing and other things and services useful to humanity. Some of you joined such companies to contribute your work to building and bringing the founders’ ideas to market. But all of us, without exception, start each new day wanting to leave our mark in the field where we feel satisfied and fulfilled by what we have done, achieved and reached – and to fulfil our purpose, whether as the provider for a family or as an aeronautical engineer.
At the start of every story in industry there was an idea burning brightly enough to become a plan. The plan was given a deadline and turned into action, while the original idea slowly but surely took shape and form – and with it its purpose: to enrich humanity. Enthusiasm runs high, the first pieces are produced and find their way to customers who use them to meet their needs. Customers are happy with the value the product gives them, so they talk about it and share their experience with the people close to them. Good news travels far, demand grows, and the story picks up speed…
New machines, new people, new plans – bigger, broader, more complex… More and more of your time goes on side jobs, tasks and problems arising from everyday work instead of on your original idea, born of love for something.
For the first time, questions appear: “Why did I need all this?” or “But this isn’t what I asked for”…
But… go back to the first question:
“Why did you start this business in the first place?”
Go back to that question, hold on to it firmly and keep asking yourself until that beautiful original idea rises to the surface again and shines so brightly that every obstacle along the way becomes pointless and insignificant compared with its beauty, its scale and its usefulness to humanity…
02The solution: delegation
Because there is a solution, short and clear: delegation!
All the other tasks essential to realising your idea – the ones that annoy you, take your valuable time and energy and frustrate you – simply hand them over to the people for whom they are a purpose! By delegating the obligations that keep you from the work in which you are most productive, most fulfilled and happiest, you secure your own advantage, because you have removed all the distractions that drained the time and energy your idea needs to survive. We are not all inventors, nor all accountants – and you will admit there are countless professions in which each person finds the story in which they work and live their own purpose.
03Our “WHY”
Since producing almost anything involves compressed air – and compressor technology – in at least a small part of the process, that is exactly our purpose: looking after your system for producing, treating and distributing compressed air! Caring for your compressors is the essence of our existence. It is why we exist, why we do what we do, why we expand, complement and refine our resources – and it is the work for which we will go the extra mile, put in the extra hours and give an extra part of ourselves.
When you regain the ability to focus on what you are truly at home in, what makes you happy and therefore most productive, you secure your advantage – and not just any advantage, but the most powerful one: working and living your purpose.
