Compressed air, like the other gases used in industry, is a consumable and expensive medium. It is the most widely used gas in industry and the second most expensive industrial energy carrier (after electricity).
Given that compressed air is used constantly and unavoidably in industry, that the price per kWh (used to drive compressors and dryers) keeps rising, and that every effort is aimed at reducing the carbon footprint (to which industry – and therefore compressor systems – contribute as secondary causes), the rational use of energy has become a necessity.
So how do you manage energy rationally in your compressor system?
011. Identifying the opportunity (the compressed air system)
Testing and analysing energy use

022. Measurement
Choosing the right measurement method and devices to collect key data

033. Data analysis and proposed improvements
Collecting the measured data, analysing it and presenting solutions for more rational energy use

044. Action and implementation
Applying corrective measures on the compressed air network

055. Developing and applying know-how
Constantly following technical and technological advances in compressor technology and energy efficiency gives us more options for using energy smartly

06Monitoring key parameters in the compressed air system
To collect data on key parameters within the compressor system, Tehnogama has put together a monitoring equipment package that includes:
- OS 331 – display and data logging unit
- OS 110 – electricity consumption meter
- OS 401 – compressed air flow and consumption sensor
- OS 16 – network pressure sensor
- OS 215 – dew point sensor (-20 °C to +50 °C)

All data measured by the individual peripheral meters (electricity consumption, compressed air flow, dew point, etc.) are collected in a data logger, from which daily, weekly and monthly reports can be selected and exported to Excel. These reports form the basis for analysing the efficiency of the entire compressor system.
In addition to continuous measurements, leak detection can also be carried out on the compressed air network.
Based on the measured parameters and any detected leaks, our team of engineers will analyse the data and propose ways to make your compressed air production system more efficient – both in terms of production itself and in terms of energy efficiency.
